How much notice do hosts require/how far in advance should I request a stay?

If a Host location is listed on our site, that means the Host location is active. However, they may not be available to Host guests every day of the year. Hosts can block out days or weeks when they are not available. Note: Blocked calendar dates are not reflected in the Requests between Nov 20-Feb 17 accepted date range notice.

Host Calendars

Each Host is also able to set their preferences for their window of accepting stays in advance, ranging from 60 -180 days for Harvest Hosts and 7-180 days for Boondockers Welcome Hosts. Most of our Hosts use the default number of 90 days in advance. If a Host's calendar is grayed out into the future, their window may not be open yet, and you will need to check back at a later time.

If your requested date is allowed but the departure date falls outside the booking window, you can try submitting the request again the following day. This small adjustment ensures the departure date is within the allowed range.

Same-Day Requests

Some Hosts allow same-day requests, which will be listed on their profile. As long as the Host's calendar is open and available, you may request a stay!

Additionally, if you are looking for last-minute options, consider using the "Same Day Booking" filter in the app to find listings available for immediate stays.

Check Availability

While on the Host Profile page on the website, click on the Check Availability button on the right just below the photo header to see their availability. Here you can see the dates that they are available to Host (in black) versus the Hosts that are unavailable (in light grey).
