Randomized Profile Content: for Visitors & non-logged-in Members
Visitors and Members who are not logged into our website will only see a randomized location of your Host information. While Boondockers Welcome host locations show up on our Discover Map for non-members, your Host location name, About section, address, and contact information are randomized and kept from public view until a Member is signed into the website.
General Profile Content: for logged-in Members
When a member is logged in, they will see your Host name, About section, and the other general information you provide on your Host Profile. For an added layer of protection, Members will not see your exact host location, but a randomized pin location within 2 miles of your actual location.
Specific Profile Content: for Members with Approved Stays
Only members who have an approved Stay Request by you will obtain your exact addresses and directions. You control who can see your specific location information. Real names and phone numbers are also shared between the Host and Members after you approve the Stay Request. This provides increased transparency and security.
Profiles are visible to Members, except your map, address, coordinates, and contact information. Hosts should avoid including directions, addresses, or photos on their profile that would make their exact location obvious.
Liability & Insurance
For Hosts
All Boondockers Welcome Hosts must have standard home liability insurance if they welcome any guests on their property, not just Boondockers Welcome guests. No additional insurance should be necessary to be a host.
However, we do offer our Property Protection Program at no additional charge to Hosts. The Property Protection Plan provides liability coverage for up to US $5,000* per occurrence in the event of a third-party claim for property damage related to a Boondockers Welcome stay that is not covered by your Home Insurance Policy that you, as a Boondockers Welcome Host, must hold.
*See Plan for details, inclusions, and claim process.
For Members
Your standard vehicle liability insurance should cover you if you somehow damage a Host property with your vehicle. If you do damage other than with a vehicle, typically a home insurance policy would cover you for liability both at home and away from home, but you should check with your broker to know the exact details of your coverage.
