Reviews - Can I provide a Host response to a negative review from a Member?

Yes, we do offer to add a Host Response at the end of a negative Review so other Members will be able to see both the original Member's review and the Host's response. Due to FTC regulations, we are not allowed to remove reviews. A well-thought-out response to a review offers hosts the ability to provide context, address concerns, and improve future guest interactions. By keeping responses concise and professional, hosts can foster positive relationships within the Harvest Hosts community.

Host Response Guidelines

Harvest Hosts gives hosts the option to respond to guest reviews, which appears directly beneath the original review. A well-crafted response can clarify misunderstandings, set realistic expectations for future guests, and demonstrate your commitment to providing a positive experience. Here are key points for writing a great Host Response:

  1. Keep it concise: Limit your response to 3–5 sentences.

  2. Maintain professionalism: Avoid confrontational language or debates.

  3. Acknowledge the feedback: Thank the reviewer for sharing their experience.

  4. Provide helpful context: Explain specific policies or details about your location.

  5. Close courteously: Wish the reviewer safe travels or express hope for future visits.

To offer a Host Response to a Member Review, please contact us by clicking on the green chat bubble in the bottom right corner of our website and providing the Member's name, the text of the negative review, and a 2-3 sentence response. Keep in mind that your response should maintain professionalism and address the review's context effectively. For reference, an example response might be: "Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We’re sorry the experience didn’t meet your expectations. As a rural farm, we embrace elements like wildlife, which some visitors may find challenging. We appreciate you giving us a try and hope this helps future guests understand the nature of our location. Safe travels!"
